A Horse Parde to Help to Feed the Hungry
Hundreds of decorated horses, ponies, donkeys, wagons, carriages and stagecoaches will fill the streets of Lisbon to support the food banks of Howard and Carroll Counties and the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department. Entry fees and sponsorships go to the charities, and spectators are asked to bring a dry or canned good to donate. In 2013, the parade raised more than $8,500 for the local food banks!
The parade is free for spectators. After the parade, there will be pony rides and a country ham and fried chicken dinner in the Fire Hall. All proceeds from the dinner benefit local food banks and Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department.
There is free parking on South and North Avenues and at the Lisbon Firehouse, Lisbon Methodist Church, Lisbon Baptist Church, and Madison Street. Handicapped parking is available at the Lisbon Elementary School. Roads close around the village at 10:30, so arrive early.
